Co-founder and Open Mic co-host Angela took a family day off for Easter and I wanted to do something fun for Easter so Anartist and co-host of Mystic Mamas and Poppy’s Field Project Miriah Meiers and host of Poppy’s Field Project Nova joined me this week for a special watch party and after-movie discussion of the 1997 movie The Fifth Element. It was a lot of fun discussing the movie right after watching it as every time I watch movies and tv shows I’m always noticing something new in them after time has passed with fresh eyes, especially pertaining to current events with old movies. It really seems like a lot of movies and other arts become more and more relevant as time passes by. I really enjoyed discussing all aspects of the film with Miriah and Nova from the art and production to the overtly esoteric subject matter as well as generally chatting with them and getting nostalgic about the 1990s.

On a side note, I am currently booking guests for Anartist Open Mic to hopefully fill up the next few months of the schedule. I already have two scheduled and have our next holiday movie night planned. If you are an artist, musician, comedian, other type of performer, writer, filmmaker, craftsman or otherwise create something yourself, want talk about it and show your work off, let me know! I would love to have you on the show! You can get in contact with me here through Substack or you can email me at shelly@anartistcollective.com. I truly want The Anartist Collective to be welcoming to everyone and for them to freely express themselves through art regardless what their personal ideologies may be. I’m an “agree to disagree” person myself. I much prefer to connect what we all have in common and see past our differences. There are some fantastic artists, writers, musicians and the like from all walks of life and backgrounds all over the place and I would love for people in different bubbles to get exposed to more creative arts. We really do have way more in common than not and it’s past time we start looking past our differences to create new and beautiful things and connect over that.
